Tiny Telephones was formed by Patrick Heaney and Aaron Blomberg in late 2011. Their debut album The Heavenly Child released in 2012 gained the attention of Japanese record label P-Vine records who quickly signed the band. When recording the album the members didn't take a conventional approach to tracking- "We recorded guitars in the woods, drums in abandoned warehouses and ambient sounds anywhere from train stations to boats. We set up a small mobile recording rig everywhere we could to get the different sounds". The album, written and engineered by both members was produced by Patrick in his studio Secret Cedar. They worked with multiple engineers on the final mix of the project, most notably international recording artist and engineer Jimmy LaValle of The Album Leaf and Sigur Ros. The result of all this, a new blend of American indie post rock that has people around the world listening. When it was time for the band to play live, the duo enlisted the help of good friends Alia Jyawook, Danny King and Marco Perez who all had been in previous bands and projects of their own. Critics have called the project a "- post rock cross between Explosions in the Sky and M83". The live performance includes a visual aspect of projections and programmed LED lights that you could not soon forget and has become a well known staple of the project. The band is currently working on a sophomore album set to release in 2014 with additional plans of a tour.
